Hessian Grass-Strike Mesh – 1.83m x 50m

Hessian Mesh 14oz is a natural, biodegradable cloth used to establish new grass and protect freshly seeded areas. Once seed is applied to the prepared soil surface, the mesh is laid over the top to reduce erosion, deter birds and help create ideal germination conditions.

The open weave of Hessian Mesh allows light and moisture to reach the soil while still shielding the seed from wind, rain and disturbance. Over time, the material naturally breaks down into the soil.

  • Made from natural fibres, Hessian Mesh decomposes gradually in the soil, leaving no synthetic material behind.

Installation:

  • Prepare the ground – Level the soil for consistent contact, then fertilise and seed following standard guidelines.
  • Lay the mesh – Roll out the Hessian Mesh so it sits flat and taut with minimal wrinkles.
  • Secure on slopes – For inclined areas, anchor the top edge in a shallow trench to prevent slippage.
  • Overlap and fix – Overlap adjoining sections by 100mm. Secure edges and overlaps every 0.5m with biodegradable pegs and fasten the centre areas every 1m.
  • Optional finishing – Hydromulching can be applied over the mesh if required.
